Heavy Duty Mechanic (FIFO - Resolute, NU)

Description: ATCO Frontec is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Site Services department in Resolute Bay, NU. The Mechanic is responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance and service of a wide variety of equipment. This position has a working rotation of 4 weeks on/4 weeks off, 7 days per week, with 10 hours per day. All travel, accommodation, and meals are provided. The ATCO Frontec team in Resolute Bay provides logistics services for various Northern Government and private sector initiatives, including support and maintenance for the Polar Continental Shelf Program, the Resolute Bay Weather Observation, and the operation, maintenance and distribution of fuel for the hamlet and the Resolute Bay airport. The project team also provides logistics and operational support to initiatives in surrounding communities including Eureka and Grise Fiord. With a wide range of resources and experience, the Resolute Bay team can handle any operation in one of the most hostile climates in Canada. Responsibilities: Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes May be called upon to operate other equipment Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required Valid class 3 driver’s license is required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good verbal and written communications skills Able to manage time and make decisions in a fast-paced environment Able to weld, gas and AC/DC is a strong asset Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling and Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions Working Conditions: Remote Arctic work environment. The mechanic is responsible for the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, and construction equipment. They also diagnose equipment issues and may be required to fabricate or install machinery components.

Candidates must hold a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification and a valid class 3 driver's license. The role requires the ability to perform physically strenuous work in extreme Arctic weather conditions.
