Estimating Student

ESTIMATING STUDENT Reports to: VP, Preconstruction Term: 8 or 12 months Location: Calgary, AB office THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimating Student will support the Preconstruction and Estimating team with the preparation of proposals, tenders, and project estimates. The position is targeted towards ambitious individuals working towards a degree in construction engineering (Civil/Geotechnical) or a related subject ideally focused on special foundations. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist with reviewing tender packages, drawings, specifications, and geotechnical information * Prepare quantity take-offs and support project cost estimates * Assist with preparing technical tenders, bids, and supporting documentation * Check geotechnical scopes and project requirements * Perform general estimating administration and maintain tender files * Maintain and update project and geotechnical databases * Conduct research to support estimating and tendering activities * Liaise with internal teams to gather information for estimates and submissions * Participate in site visits and other learning opportunities, where appropriate WHAT WE LOOK FOR * Civil or Structural engineering student, or graduate of engineering tech program. * 1-2 years of experience in a construction environment. * Good communications, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. * Computer literate in a Windows environment. * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. The Estimating Student will support the Preconstruction team by preparing project estimates, quantity take-offs, and technical tender documentation. They will also maintain project databases and assist in liaising with internal teams to gather necessary information for submissions.

Candidates must be students or graduates in Civil or Structural engineering or an engineering technology program. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and 1-2 years of construction experience are required.
