BCL provides strategic advice, claims management, and advocacy services tailored to each client’s needs. The organization focuses on delivering measurable cost savings while helping employers support safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. Role Description The WCB Consultant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. This role involves managing WCB claims for client organizations, including case review, documentation analysis, and proactive communication with WCB representatives, healthcare providers, and employer contacts. The WCB Consultant will interpret WCB legislation and policies, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide recommendations to clients on claims strategies, return-to-work planning, and disability management best practices. Day-to-day activities include preparing written submissions and appeals, attending meetings and hearings as required, maintaining accurate case records, and delivering reports and updates to clients. The role also includes educating clients on WCB processes, facilitating training sessions, and contributing to continuous improvement of internal consulting methodologies. Qualifications Knowledge of WCB legislation, claims processes, and disability management, with experience interpreting policies and applying them to individual cases. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for reviewing medical and claims documentation, identifying issues, and developing cost-effective strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing submissions, reports, and client correspondence, and for representing clients in discussions with WCB and other stakeholders. Ability to build collaborative relationships with employers, WCB contacts, healthcare providers, and internal team members, demonstrating professionalism and client service orientation. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate and confidential records. Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as business, human resources, occupational health and safety, law, or rehabilitation, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in workers’ compensation, insurance, HR, disability management, or occupational health and safety is an asset. Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office) and comfort working with case management or database systems.
