Job Role: Staff/Principal Software Engineer (Strong AI/ML and Java exp) Location : Toronto, ON/Onsite Position Type : Contract Role Contract Duration: 6 months to 1 year 5 Days Onsite Ideal Candidate Rate: CAD 80-85/Hr (Depending upon the experience) Looking for candidate with hands-on experience on IC role with significant architectural influence and also responsible for designing the system and writing the code. Candidate will work at the intersection of edge computing, backend services, and AI/ML platforms, collaborating closely with data science to build the foundation for trust-signal processing and machine learning inference. Must Have: Experience 10+ years building production distributed systems Data platforms Experience building features for ML inference pipelines - data normalization, feature stores, model serving integration Green field project experience (select and build framework) AI-Assist strong experience but should be strong in hands on coding too Strong in System design architecture AI-assisted development Demonstrated proficiency with AI dev tools (GitHub Copilot, LLM-powered workflows, agentic coding assistants) - this is a key differentiator for how this team operates Greenfield builder Track record of taking systems from 0 to 1; comfortable with undefined requirements and rapid iteration Architecture Ability to own and communicate system design decisions across teams; translate ambiguous product goals into technical plans Technologies Backend Deep expertise in Java Spring Boot - API design, microservices, event-driven architectures Cloud Strong AWS experience (compute, storage, networking, IAM) Edge/CDN Hands-on experience with edge computing and CDN execution environments (edge Workers, CDN functions, Lambda@Edge, or equivalent) Languages Deep expertise in Java and/or the ability to work effectively in JavaScript/TypeScript-based edge runtimes Note: AI-enabled tools may be used to sort applications based on job-related criteria. All AI generated results are vetted by our team and the decision of which candidates move forward is always made by a human.
