ABOUT THE ROLE The Facilities Maintenance Technician will play a key role in supporting the safety, maintenance and operational integrity of the BC Hydro Edmonds Campus designated locations. This position is responsible for attending service calls, conducting building inspections, initiating corrective repair work orders, performing light preventive maintenance (PMs), and coordinating with external service providers (Suppliers). The Maintenance Technician acts as a liaison between Black & McDonald and BC Hydro District Office Managers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of facilities-related issues using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The Maintenance Technician will support the B&M Facility Manager in the coordination of preventative maintenance tasks and inspections for all building systems and services, and complete corrective repairs as required to ensure continued availability of the building spaces. The Maintenance Technician will use their experience and technical skills working in a Team environment to support our high levels of service and customer satisfaction. WHAT YOU WILL DO: In conjunction with the Facility Manager and the team, plan and execute planned and corrective maintenance tasks and minor repairs that can be addressed in-house. Organize and plan work to meet schedules, and co-ordinate work activities with Supplier Vendors. Build and Maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships. Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities of suppliers while on site. Perform operational inspections, safety inspections, Site condition inspections. Respond to work orders created in JDE, ensuring the correct assets are tagged in work completed. Perform light duties such as building inspections, garbage removal, snow removal, HVAC, Plumbing, and other Mechanical duties, assisting the supplier’s technician’s, mechanics, etc. Request quotes from Suppliers in advance of work. Assist FM in planning construction schedules and milestones, monitoring progress against established schedules. Ensure service reports are completed for B&M tasks along with supplier service reports entered. Review work completed and work in progress for areas of risk and proactively correct deficiencies. Resolve problems and implement measures to improve productivity. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering or construction trade certification in plumbing/HVAC/Electrical is an asset WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 3-5 years of experience in facilities management/mechanical/electrical service industry A handy person on the tools with experience around small repairs Knowledge and experience in Maintenance & Repair tasks, Plumbing, Electrical & HVAC systems SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Available for Emergency Out-of-hours duties where applicable Clean Class 5 or higher BC Driver’s License and Abstract Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook Excellent verbal and written communications skills required Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to complete work in a timely manner Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with fellow employees and customers Strong problem solving skills Must be able to pass criminal background check Expected compensation for this role is a starting pay range between $33.51-$35.51/hour dependent on skills and experience. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in facilities management or mechanical/electrical service industries. A 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering or construction trade certification is preferred, along with a clean Class 5 driver's license.
