About Bounce Bounce is building the next generation of payment infrastructure in Canada. Tomorrow, we’re enabling merchants to accept account-to-account payments through Scan-to-Pay, APIs, payment links, QR codes, and Canada’s upcoming Real-Time Rail (RTR). Our platform is rail-agnostic and designed around the future of Canadian payments: instant settlement, lower payment costs, and a seamless experience across both consumers and businesses. If successful, millions of Canadians won’t just use Bounce, they’ll transact on infrastructure we built. Role Overview This is our first dedicated DevOps Engineer. You won’t be maintaining legacy systems, you’ll help design, build and scale the cloud infrastructure powering the next generation of Canadian payments. As Bounce expands beyond peer-to-peer payments into merchant payments, Scan-to-Pay, business accounts, APIs and prepares for Canada’s upcoming Real-Time Rail (RTR), infrastructure becomes a core part of the product. You’ll own our AWS platform, developer experience, CI/CD, production operations and infrastructure automation, ensuring our systems remain secure, resilient and ready to scale. Working closely with engineering, you’ll establish the foundations that will support millions of future transactions while enabling developers to ship quickly and confidently. What You’ll Build Cloud Platform Design and evolve our AWS infrastructure for scale, resiliency and high availability. Build infrastructure capable of supporting real-time financial transactions. Continuously improve reliability, performance and operational efficiency. Production Reliability Improve observability, monitoring, alerting and incident response. Build self-healing systems and automated recovery. Improve deployment confidence while minimizing downtime. Developer Platform Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Improve local development environments. Build tooling that allows engineers to deploy safely and frequently. Security & Compliance Build security directly into infrastructure. Automate compliance controls and auditability. Help prepare our platform for the operational requirements of Canada’s payment ecosystem and Real-Time Rail (RTR). Who We’re Looking For Intermediate 3–5 years of hands-on cloud infrastructure experience. Strong AWS experience (preferred). 3–5 years of TypeScript experience. 3–5 years managing production services. Experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred). Experience building CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code. Strong understanding of observability and monitoring. Startup mindset with strong ownership. Senior 5+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure. Deep AWS expertise. Strong TypeScript experience. Significant experience operating production services at scale. Experience designing resilient distributed systems. Strong ownership mentality. Comfortable making architecture decisions in a fast-moving startup. Required AWS (strongly preferred) TypeScript Kubernetes (EKS preferred) Terraform / CDK for Terraform GitHub Actions Docker CI/CD Observability & Monitoring Experience operating production services Nice to Have Python Experience in fintech or regulated environments Experience with payment systems Why This Role Is Different Build infrastructure for one of Canada’s next-generation payment platforms.
