Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members. Position Overview We’re seeking a Nurse Practitioner to be a vital part of our multidisciplinary primary health care clinical team, delivering top-notch care to Canadian Armed Forces members at our primary care medical clinic on base in Greenwood. From providing essential primary care and occupational health services to tackling minor traumas and championing health promotion initiatives, your role will be as diverse as it is rewarding. This Position Offers Generous allotment of time for booked appointments, giving you the opportunity to provide quality care A fully functional clinic with access to diagnostic and support services within the clinic or the local community Direct access to a robust Mental Health department including psychiatrists, psychologist, Social Workers, and Addictions Counselors Regular weekday hours with no evening or weekend work (Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4 pm) You will find yourself in a truly rewarding turnkey position providing the gold standard of health care to your patient population along with a collaborative team. Responsibilities Performs comprehensive health assessments using sound clinical judgment, diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Practices autonomously and is solely accountable for his/her actions while practicing. Consults with physicians or other health care professionals when the client’s condition requires care beyond the scope of NP practice. Makes appropriate medical employment limitation recommendations in accordance with the Surgeon General’s guidelines. Prescribes medications and orders x-rays, ultrasounds, and lab tests in accordance with the Standards of Practice for RNs in the Extended Class Implements strategies to promote health and prevent illness with individuals, families or groups. Collaborates on the management of Members with stable chronic illnesses (such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and asthma) through a predetermined referral process. Refers patients to other providers or programs according to the patient’s need. Qualifications Licensed and in good standing within the province of Nova Scotia One year of related experience post graduation from Nurse Practitioner program required Experience with occupational injuries preferred Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Additional Requirements Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level Compensation $70 – $77 an hour Vacancy We have one available position AI Usage Disclosure At Calian, we do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to screen or evaluate candidates. Exigences
Candidates must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in good standing in Nova Scotia with at least one year of post-graduation experience. Basic Life Support or CPR/AED Level C certification and the ability to obtain Government Security Clearance are required.
