They are looking for a Commodity Buyer to join their team in Burnaby, BC. This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the commercial side of the business, enjoys working with suppliers and customers, and wants to continue developing their career within a fast-paced wholesale environment. The Opportunity As a Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing and managing key product categories while working closely with suppliers, sales teams and operations. This is not simply a purchasing role. We are looking for someone who understands that good buying decisions are driven by the market, customer demand, pricing, margins and relationships. You will negotiate with suppliers, monitor market conditions, manage inventory levels and ensure the business has the right products at the right price and at the right time. What You'll Be Doing Purchase and manage assigned commodity and product categories Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers Negotiate pricing, terms and purchasing agreements Monitor market conditions, pricing trends and product availability Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and market opportunities Manage inventory levels and support effective inventory turns Identify purchasing opportunities and help maximize margins Coordinate with sales, operations and logistics Analyze purchasing, sales and inventory data to support business decisions Support the continued growth and profitability of the business Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone with approximately 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, sales, distribution or a related commercial role. Experience within the wholesale or distribution industry would be a strong asset, particularly within building materials, construction products or another commodity-driven environment. Most Importantly, You Are Personable and relationship-driven Commercially minded with a good understanding of sales Driven, motivated and eager to grow Comfortable negotiating and working with numbers Organized and able to manage multiple priorities Curious and willing to learn Coachable and trainable A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team Previous sales experience is highly valued.
