Stock Person

JOB OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Travel Centre Manager, the Stock Person will be responsible to ensure products and merchandise are received, organized, and displayed in a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for replenishing shelves, organizing inventory, rotating products, and maintaining accurate stock levels to support efficient store operations and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, able to perform physical tasks, and committed to providing a positive shopping experience by ensuring products are readily available for customers at all times. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: * Stock shelves with products and merchandise according to company policies and procedures; * Ensure products and merchandise are rotated and faced in an organized manner; * Ensure that all products are within their expiration dates or best before dates; * Assist with tracking of inventory levels and report low inventory to the appropriate personnel; * Receive and unload deliveries from trucks and verify accuracy of shipments; * Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockroom, shelves and sales floor including the back room to be swept and washed as required; and * The Stock Person is a key team member and may be asked to carry out other duties and activities related to the effectiveness and the successful implementation of the DCN Travel Centre. QUALIFICATIONS: * Previous experience in retail or grocery preferred; * High School Completion or equivalent; * Criminal record check will be required; * Detail oriented with strong analytical, time management and organizational skills; * Good communicator and ability to work well in a team environment; * Ability to work with minimal supervision; and * Demonstrates accountability and accepts responsibilities for actions and outcomes. WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Demands: The Stock Person will have to spend long hours standing, which can cause muscle strain. They will also be required to do lifting of supplies, anywhere from 10lbs to 50lbs, using proper lifting techniques. They may be required to utilize a shovel cleaning snow from pump areas. They may also be required to assist with Janitorial duties. Environment Conditions The Stock Person may have to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently. They may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. They will be required to work in all types of weather or in cooler fridges and will need to ensure to wear the appropriate clothing. Sensory Demands: Sensory demands can include reading and lifting. The situations and weather conditions may be noisy and busy making it difficult for the Attendant to concentrate. Mental Demands: The Stock Person will have to manage a number of requests and projects and will have to complete a number of tasks and responsibilities at one time. They must be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time. In addition, they may have to deal with problem solving and conflicts that may arise. This position follows a five-day weekly schedule: Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thursday: 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. During an 8-hour shift, workers receive: Two (2) paid 15-minute breaks One (1) unpaid 30-minute meal break (automatic daily deduction) Employment Term: Full-Time Duration: Permanent Closing Date: Until a suitable candidate is selected. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in retail or grocery is preferred. Applicants must be detail-oriented, capable of performing physical tasks like lifting up to 50lbs, and able to pass a criminal record check.
