As our Senior Technical Specialist – Tax Operations you'll leverage your expertise in Canadian and cross-border tax reporting to ensure compliance, reduce risk, enhance client outcomes, and lead key business initiatives that drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Include Serve as the Canada Tax Production Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing deep expertise in Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules, regulations, withholding, reporting, and tax production requirements. Acts as a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for supporting multiple tax production work streams, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, and delivering accurate, timely, and risk-controlled tax reporting. Function as the primary resource for interpreting and applying CRA regulations, analyzing regulatory changes, and translating complex tax requirements into operational processes and procedures. Provides guidance on complex tax matters, resolves escalated issues, and partners with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent application of tax policies, controls, and reporting requirements across the organization. Maintain a strong understanding of U.S. tax concepts impacting Canadian reporting, including IRS regulations related to U.S. persons, cross-border tax considerations, withholding requirements, and information reporting obligations. Leverages this knowledge to assess regulatory impacts, support operational compliance, and provide guidance on complex client and tax reporting scenarios involving U.S. and Canadian tax requirements. Lead efforts to identify, assess, and implement process improvements, regulatory enhancements, and strategic change initiatives that improve operational efficiency, strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and enhance client service. Additionally, supports oversight of outsourced tax production activities and technology vendors, partnering with external providers to resolve issues, implement regulatory changes, monitor service delivery, and ensure alignment with business, operational, and compliance requirements. Recognized as a trusted authority on Canadian tax production, CRA regulatory requirements, and cross-border tax reporting considerations, this role influences business outcomes through technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, vendor partnership, and continuous improvement leadership while ensuring the organization remains compliant and well-positioned to respond to changing regulatory demands. What Experience You'll Need High School diploma or equivalent required. 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry or a related operational environment. Experience supporting Canadian Tax functions and strong knowledge of CRA regulations Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research, identify, and resolve complex issues. Experience working with operational systems and technology platforms within a financial services environment. Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity and operational controls. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business areas, vendors, and external partners. What Could Set You Apart Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Experience supporting process improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and operational change management. Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor associates. Experience and/or working knowledge with: Excel Salesforce SharePoint JIRA Power BI Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and critical processing deadlines. Familiarity with regulatory, audit, and risk management requirements within the financial services industry. Candidates who live within a commutable distance of our Mississauga, Ontario home office are expected to work in the office three days per week, with a preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
