You will be responsible for supervising, training and inspecting the performance of assigned housekeeping and janitorial staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards. You will be responsible for performing training team members and oversees overall training activities for housekeeping and custodial associates. You will act as a resource for others due to knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and commercial cleaning equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate training and evaluation in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement. * Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping and janitorial departments. * Develop and follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site. * Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping and janitorial supplies and order these, keeping costs in line with approved budgetary amounts. * Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly; document late or absent employees. * Lead safety toolbox meetings daily. * Prepare and distribute assignment workload sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift. * Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies. * Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned. * Help organize projects under the direction of the Supervisor(s) or Manager. * Clean and maintain areas such as floors, stairways, and carpets by performing tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, dry/wet mopping, auto scrubbing. * Asist with room cleaning and deep cleaning projects when required. * Attend in-services, departmental meetings, and education programs such as WHMIS, Standard Precautions, and Infection Control as required to keep current with housekeeping technology, practices, safety issues, and company policies and procedures. Qualifications: * 2 years of housekeeping experience and/or training in custodial work is required. * 1 year of experience in leading or supervising the activities of other staff preferred. * Demonstrated ability and desire to lead and train a team. * Calm and clear thinking ability to handle problems or crisis in a highly professional manner. * Excellent customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. * Perform work well with accuracy, speed and attention to detail. * Able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. * Clear and thorough communication skills. * Ability to follow directions thoroughly and work with minimal supervision. * Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job, including requirements to lift and push up to 40 pounds.
