PROFILE We are currently seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our fast-paced Law Clerk team. This candidate will primarily support the professionals in the Lending Practice Area in our Real Estate and Banking Department. RESPONSIBILITIES Managing various transactions including commercial bank/mortgage financing, re-financings and assumptions, and purchase and sales of commercial property. Conducting due diligence searches (including off-title enquiries) in connection with real estate acquisitions, conducting and reviewing title and off-title searches, registering documents, drafting requisitions and title clean-up mattes. Negotiating and finalizing title insurance policies for acquisitions and financings. Drafting and coordinating correspondence and standard closing documents and coordinating closings. Drafting closing documents for financings and refinancing (including real and personal property security documents, ancillary documents, status reports and final reports to lenders). Other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS Law Clerk certificate/diploma A minimum of 4 + years experience in financial services and / or commercial real estate Experience with Teraview, PPSA electronic filing systems and Conveyancer Experience in secured financing transactions, preferably working with banks as clients. Possess a broad foundation of legal concepts, experience and applications relevant to the practice of commercial real estate law and financial services Ability to deal with changing priorities and busy practices Ability to manage a large volume of work and work under pressure Ability to meet strict deadlines with excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills and client service skills Confident and dependable with strong initiative and the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere Strong technical aptitude with excellent knowledge and experience in MS Office. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications.
