Position #: 131988 Expected Start Date: September 11, 2026 Union: HSAS Facility: Victoria Hospital City/Town: Prince Albert Department: Addiction Serv Res Care Unit&Trtmt Facil-Brief & Social Detox Type: Part-time temporary Expected Up to Date: July 09, 2027 FTE: 0.35 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: 39.2 hours per 3 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Standard Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176 Travel Required: No Job Description: As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and under the general direction of the Addictions Counsellor - Degree (Alcohol & Addictions services worker), the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * Inpatient services and/or harm reduction setting is required Education * Chemical Dependency diploma Knowledge and Abilities * Ability to organize work load demands * Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures. * Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model * Ability to accurately assess addiction(s) and make appropriate recovery plans. * Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms * Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies * Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field. * Work collaboratively w/ a multidisciplinary team & other agencies in the community * Knowledge in group dynamics * Ability to work independently * Demonstrates knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on family units * Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients and community * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Other Information * For more information on the city of Prince Albert please visit https://www.citypa.ca [https://www.citypa.ca] * Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
