What You Will Do You'll work within one of our organizations for the duration of your internship working alongside experienced professionals, receive coaching and mentorship, and contributing to projects that drive real results and add value to the business. Through hands-on experiences, you'll strengthen your professional capabilities while gaining a deeper understanding of industry operations. You'll also gain exposure to the day-to-day work of full-time engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals giving you a sense of what a career at Imperial looks like. Some responsibilities may include: Design, Install, Configure, Maintain and Troubleshoot ICS equipment (Servers/Networks) and applications along with continuously maintaining and upgrading the DCS, SCADA and PLC systems Upskill and support day to day Technical Automation opportunities for the team e.g. applications, systems, networking, cyber security, Instrumentation and control and data analytics. Prepare instrumentation diagrams, process control narratives, instrument lists, and input/output lists as part of new design and ongoing maintenance Configure and Monitor ICS environment for Industrial Cyber security requirements and mitigate cyber-attacks that could alter or damage the plant, Mine or manufacturing facility. Interdisciplinary interfacing on behalf of the Automation team scope of work. Work with a Continuous Improvement mindset, Invest long term learning to grow to the entire width of automation group by rotating within the team and contribute on company’s strategic priorities. Support and help sustain the CI culture for the business. Find the opportunities to automate processes for the team, function and the asset to improve the business results. Support ancillary programs within the automation team including alarm management, industrial cybersecurity, preventative maintenance tasks, etc. Support managed engineering changes in the plant environment related to automation. This includes understanding the issue, scoping, updating engineering documentation, implementing control system programming, testing updated logic and communicating changes to operations. (Understand and support the team perform and manage changes through CSCR, MOCs.) Support systems infrastructure such as planning and executing upgrades to servers, networks, applications, virtual machines, etc. Provide efficient and effective support to technical automation team for Plant automation & Mine automation while enhancing overall application usage via the examination of current practices and implemented solutions. Investigate and find solutions to any automation system, application issues. Optimization of application and field operations About You We're hiring students for January or May 2027 student/co-op opportunities. Skills And Qualifications Studying to achieve a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mining, Computer, Electrical, or Systems Engineering University student available for a work term beginning in January or May 2027 Currently enrolled in a university program and returning to full-time studies after the work term Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role Commitment to safety on and off the job To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application Preferred Qualifications/Experience Experience with Windows, MS Office, Active Directory Programming knowledge such as python, VBA, powershell, SQL Basic TCP/IP networking knowledge Preference for candidates with IT/OT experience.
