Résumé du poste

Our client is a specialized company that delivers distinctive, high-value work for major architecture projects. Their shipments can include expensive, one-of-a-kind pieces in a wide range of sizes and levels of complexity. This is an elevated, hands-on role, not simply packing boxes or moving products with a forklift. The Shipping/Receiving Lead will own the department and the full shipping process, thinking ahead to prevent delays, managing detailed paperwork, and coordinating vendors. The right person will be proactive, organized and comfortable taking the lead without waiting for direction. They will bring ideas forward, maintain a clean and orderly department, and communicate professionally with clients, suppliers, project managers and the production team, even when priorities compete or pushback is required. This position does not have any direct reports. What You’ll Be Responsible For Manage the shipment and receipt of products, materials and supplies. Take ownership of the shipping and receiving department, establish clear processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, organization and efficiency. Plan ahead for upcoming shipments, flag potential issues early and keep internal teams aligned on timing, documentation and delivery requirements. Coordinate domestic and international shipments, including imports, exports, customs brokers. Prepare shipping estimates and quotes for incoming and outgoing shipments. Complete shipping documentation and track, trace and communicate shipment status. Work closely with project management, production and other teams involved in shipping and receiving. Communicate professionally with clients, carriers, customs brokers and internal stakeholders, and confidently manage competing demands or pushback when needed. Coordinate with the separate crating team and step in to support crating or preparation when required. Safely load and unload trucks and trailers using a forklift and other appropriate equipment. Operate and maneuver truck-and-trailer combinations in the yard and at delivery locations. Inspect fleet vehicles and trailers, coordinate preventative maintenance and help keep them in good working order. Maintain a clean, organized and hazard-free shipping area and yard. Follow all health and safety policies, procedures and PPE requirements. Support deliveries, trailer hauling, site installations and other shop or department needs when required. What We’re Looking For High school diploma and at least five years of shipping/receiving experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Hands-on experience with international shipping, customs brokers and related documentation. Current, externally issued forklift certification and demonstrated experience loading and unloading trailers and trucks. Confidence operating truck-and-trailer combinations in yard and delivery settings. Experience with equipment such as overhead cranes, strapping machines, staple guns and nail guns. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, along with strong document-management skills. Clear written and verbal English communication skills. A proactive, self-starting approach with the confidence to own a department, improve processes and hold others accountable to shipping requirements. Working knowledge of WHMIS and occupational health and safety requirements. General familiarity with shop trades and materials, including carpentry, welding, fabrication and paint. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment. Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and clean driver’s abstract. A reliable work history and strong attendance record. Nice to have: Current Fall Arrest, First Aid or crane operator certification. Hands-on work that requires physical effort and the use of appropriate PPE. Some travel to project installation sites, both locally and between provinces. Compensation and Benefits Up to $35 per hour, based on experience and the level of ownership the successful candidate can bring to the role. Dental, vision, extended health and disability coverage. Employee assistance program. Paid time off. On-site parking, casual dress and company events. How to Apply Please apply through Inspired HR with a current resume.
