Because insurance options can be complex, our team is dedicated to simplifying choices and providing responsive support for client questions. Applicants will join a client-centered organization that values expertise, integrity, and long-term relationships. Most importantly at InsureU, you will only focus on sales & service whereas the back office team will take care of underwriting approvals, case review, uploads and endorsements. Role Description The Independent Broker role is a full-time position based in Ottawa, Canada. The broker will meet with clients to assess their insurance needs, explain coverage options, and recommend suitable products across auto, home, business and travel insurance lines. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and building a personal client portfolio, preparing quotes, submitting applications, and managing policy renewals. The broker will have access to multiple carriers to secure competitive terms, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate client records. The role also involves providing ongoing client support, handling inquiries and participating in local networking and outreach to grow business. Qualifications Strong client service and relationship-building skills, including active listening, clear communication, and a consultative approach. Sales and negotiation abilities to prospect clients, present solutions, and close business in a competitive market. Knowledge of personal and commercial insurance products (Auto, Home, Business, Travel). Organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple clients, policies, renewals, and documentation accurately. Comfort with using computers and digital tools for quoting (ARS), Power Broker, and Microsoft Office. Valid insurance broker license in Ontario (RIBO). Ability to work independently while collaborating with Brokerage leadership and in-house underwriting & compliance teams. Prior experience in insurance sales or a related field is an asset; multilingual abilities are considered an advantage.
