Department: Logistics / Warehouse Operations Location: Vaughan, ON Reports To: Production Manager Job Summary The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shipping and dispatch activities to ensure the timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of metal products to customers. This role supervises shipping personnel, coordinates with production and warehouse teams, maintains shipping documentation, and ensures compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Shipping & Logistics Operations Supervise daily shipping, loading, and dispatch activities. Coordinate shipment schedules to meet customer delivery requirements. Verify shipping documents, packing lists, invoices, and delivery notes for accuracy. Ensure products are packaged, labeled, and loaded according to company and customer specifications. Monitor shipping performance and resolve delivery-related issues promptly. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and evaluate shipping staff and forklift operators. Assign daily tasks and monitor employee productivity. Enforce company policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements. Foster teamwork and maintain a positive work environment. Inventory & Warehouse Coordination Coordinate with production, warehouse, and inventory teams to ensure product availability for shipment. Monitor inventory movement and maintain accurate shipping records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between inventory and shipment quantities. Support cycle counts and inventory audits as required. Customer & Carrier Coordination Communicate with customers, freight providers, and transportation companies regarding shipment schedules and delivery status. Negotiate and coordinate freight arrangements when required. Address shipping delays, damages, and customer concerns professionally. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and quality standards. Maintain shipping records and documentation for audit purposes. Promote and enforce safe handling practices for metal products and warehouse equipment. Conduct regular safety inspections within the shipping area. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce costs. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, freight costs, and shipping accuracy. Participate in process improvement initiatives and operational projects. Qualifications Education Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Experience Minimum 3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, or distribution. At least 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal products or industrial manufacturing. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of shipping and logistics processes. Experience with ERP, warehouse management, or inventory systems. Ability to read shipping documents and customer specifications. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg) when necessary. Comfortable working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) On-time shipment rate. Shipping accuracy percentage. Freight cost management. Inventory accuracy. Safety compliance and incident rate. Customer delivery performance.
