The Specialist, IDD Modern Workplace & Platform Services is accountable for the operation, governance, and continuous improvement of critical Modern Workplace platforms and services with enterprise-wide impact. The role exercises a high degree of autonomy and technical judgment in administering collaboration, productivity, security, automation, and AI-enabled workplace platforms.
This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing tenant-level standards and controls across Microsoft 365 and related services, ensuring platforms are secure, compliant, reliable, and aligned with Air Canada standards. The Specialist acts as a subject matter expert and final technical escalation, regularly influencing cross-functional decisions involving Cybersecurity, Identity, Service Management, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the technical owner for Microsoft 365 platforms, including Exchange Online, mail flow, SharePoint Online, Teams, security controls, encryption, and tenant-level configuration.
- Design, implement, and govern tenant-wide standards, policies, and controls to ensure security, compliance, and operational consistency.
- Administer and manage SendGrid SMTP relay services, ensuring secure and reliable email delivery for enterprise applications.
- Administer enterprise productivity applications including Adobe Creative Suite, Foxit, and Autodesk, covering licensing, access controls, and policy configuration.
- Implement, support, and maintain data loss prevention (DLP) policies across Microsoft 365 workloads.
- Administer and govern Microsoft Copilot and Agents, including access management, configuration, policy enforcement, and alignment with responsible AI and security standards.
- Partner with Cybersecurity teams to implement tenant-wide security controls and support security incident response, audits, and risk assessments.
- Lead and deliver automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and enhance end-user experience.
- Plan, communicate, and execute platform changes in accordance with formal change management and Change Advisory Board processes.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to internal stakeholders on collaboration, automation, and AI-enabled workplace capabilities.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to ensure services meet Air Canada operational and contractual standards.
- Document platform configurations, governance standards, architectural decisions, and operational procedures to support sustainability, auditability, and knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience to commensurate the role.
- Five or more years of experience in IT platform administration, operations, or service delivery within a large enterprise or cloud-first environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 tenant administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and security services, with demonstrated experience operating as a Global Administrator or in an equivalent highly privileged tenant-wide role.
- Experience administering SaaS platforms and managing integrations such as SMTP relay or enterprise application services.
- Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and define enforceable standards in complex environments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working within formal change management and IT service management frameworks.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
