Description Your role at GEI. We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Contract Administrator to join our Guelph, Hamilton, or Kitchener office. The successful candidate will bring strong contract administration expertise, sound technical judgment, and extensive experience supporting municipal infrastructure and civil construction projects. This role is well suited to a seasoned professional who can independently manage contract administration responsibilities, effectively coordinate with contractors, clients, and project teams, and proactively address construction-related issues to support successful project delivery. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Contract Administration & Construction Oversight Provide contract administration services for municipal infrastructure, land development, and other civil construction projects. Administer construction contracts in accordance with contract documents, applicable standards, municipal requirements, and project specifications. Review and interpret contract drawings, technical specifications, addenda, and other contract documentation. Review and process progress payment certificates, change orders, RFIs, claims, and other construction-related documentation. Evaluate construction issues and provide practical technical recommendations in collaboration with project managers, designers, contractors, and clients. Monitor project progress, schedule, quality, and contractual requirements and identify potential risks or concerns. Coordinate with construction inspection staff and review field documentation to support effective contract administration. Project & Team Support Provide technical guidance and mentorship to inspectors, technologists, and other project team members. Support multidisciplinary project teams with constructability reviews, contract interpretation, and construction-related technical input. Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams. Perform additional duties as required to support successful project delivery. Availability to work outside regular hours when required by project schedules. Minimum Qualifications Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 10+ years of progressive experience in contract administration, construction inspection, or construction management involving municipal infrastructure, land development, or related civil engineering projects. Advanced understanding of construction methods, materials, contract documents, specifications, and contract administration practices. Demonstrated ability to administer construction contracts and resolve contractual and technical issues independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional project documentation. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple project priorities and adapt to contractor and construction schedules. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required. Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request. Considered Assets OACETT designation (C.Tech. or C.E.T.) or eligibility for designation. Strong knowledge of site grading, site servicing, municipal facilities, linear infrastructure, and municipal construction. Strong understanding of OPSS specifications, contract documents, the Construction Act, OHSA requirements, and municipal engineering standards. Experience with tunneling, microtunneling, and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is considered an asset.
