Location: London & Toronto, Canada Compensation: Competitive base salary + package Build the facility where a new rocket engine will come to life. We are partnering with an ambitious heavily backed space launch company developing the next generation of launch vehicle technology in Canada. Backed by significant funding and led by engineers from some of the world’s most successful aerospace and launch organisations, the company is now building the infrastructure required to develop, test and ultimately launch its vehicle. This isn't a role where you'll spend your day watching hardware from behind a desk. You'll be the person putting your hands on it. At the heart of the programme is a 725 kN liquid rocket engine — and they are now building the team that will assemble, install, test and ultimately help fire it. They're looking for hands-on Mechanical Test Technicians to join their propulsion test operation in Canada. If you've worked around high-pressure systems, cryogenics, fluid systems, turbomachinery, aerospace hardware or complex mechanical equipment, this is an opportunity to take that experience into rocket propulsion. The Mission Your job is simple to describe, but difficult to execute: Make sure the hardware is ready to fire. You'll work alongside propulsion and test engineers preparing rocket engines and test articles for hot-fire campaigns. One day you could be mounting an engine onto a test stand. The next you'll be installing instrumentation, connecting high-pressure fluid systems, torquing critical fittings or performing leak and pressure checks before a firing. When a test is complete, you'll help tear the hardware down, inspect it, identify what survived, what didn't, and prepare everything for the next iteration. You'll be working directly with hardware operating under extreme pressures, temperatures and loads, where attention to detail genuinely matters. What You'll Be Doing Assemble and disassemble rocket engines, aerospace components and mechanical subassemblies Mount engines and test articles onto propulsion test stands Install sensors, transducers, thermocouples and instrumentation Build and connect fluid and gas systems Perform pressure testing and leak checks Torque fittings and mechanical interfaces to precise specifications Inspect hardware and verify configurations before testing Support rocket engine hot-fire campaigns Calibrate and check valves, actuators and regulators Safely tear down hardware following tests Inspect components for damage, wear and anomalies Refurbish hardware ready for the next test campaign Help build, modify and maintain the wider test facility and test stands Work directly with test engineers, quality teams and design engineers to solve problems quickly What We're Looking For You don't necessarily need to have worked on rockets before. We're interested in people from aerospace, aviation, oil & gas, defence, automotive, industrial testing, manufacturing or other demanding mechanical environments where safety and precision matter. You'll Ideally Bring 2+ years of hands-on mechanical assembly, maintenance or technician experience Experience working with mechanical or fluid systems Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and technical instructions Confidence using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment Experience with torque wrenches, calipers and micrometers Knowledge of plumbing, tubing and fittings such as AN/MS/JIC Understanding of mechanical assembly, fasteners and safety wiring Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset Particularly Interesting Experience If you've worked with any of the following, we'd especially like to hear from you: High-pressure systems Cryogenic fluids Rocket propulsion Test stands Turbomachinery Propellants Pneumatics Hydraulics Pressure vessels Instrumentation Valves & regulators Tube bending Oxygen systems Welding/brazing Rigging & cranes Why Join?
