The Opportunity: We are seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Architectural Technologist to complement our Toronto office. Working under the supervision of the Job Captain or Project Manager, you will perform a variety of production tasks to prepare documents needed to take a building from original concept to completion. You will be responsible for the accuracy, quality, completeness, and schedule of finished drawing packages through coordination with team members and consultants. You will mentor less experienced team members and help resolve difficult operating tasks or drawing production problems. Experience with mass timber projects is required. Here's what you’ll be doing at Kasian: Prepare cartoon sets and production plans; oversee production management and reporting functions Lead, develop, prepare, and review Design Development Drawings (DD) and outline specifications Lead, develop, prepare, and review Contract Documents (CD) and specifications Ensure coordination of consultant documentation with respect to project criteria, client program, drawings, and specifications Perform Contract Administration (CA) duties in collaboration with the Contract Administrator Direct the preparation of tender documents Direct the research and compilation of construction materials Direct the assembly, circulation, and filing of project documents Chair production meetings Perform code and bylaw analysis Perform Quality Control procedures Coordinate with and review the work of consultants Collaborate with authorities having jurisdiction Actively manage project fee budgets and costs to ensure project profitability and prepare reports as required; draft fee agreements and contracts Approve and control all time spent on projects, expenses, and consultant invoices Provide mentorship guidance and direction to other Production Team Members Here’s what you bring to Kasian: Bachelor of Architecture degree coupled with 7+ years experience in Design Development Drawings and Contract Documents acquired in an architectural office, or a Technical Diploma in Architectural Technology coupled with 8+years experience in Design Development Drawings and Contract Documents acquired in an Architectural Office. Experience with mass timber projects is required Demonstrated experience with state-of-the-art BIM; Revit experience is required Expert knowledge of and experience with building codes, building science, and construction processes Active team leader and contributor Ability to mentor junior production team members Excellent communication and time management skills Expert problem-solving skills Attention to detail Strong work ethic Salary starts at $80,000+ per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
