APPRENTICESHIP (12 MONTH TERM) Activity sector: Pulp and Paper Site: Kamloops Wage: $43.96 per hour Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off) Start Date: Flexible based on educational schedule YOUR ROLE This apprenticeship opportunity is for a Skilled Trades BC registered apprentice who have completed their foundations course in one of the following trades to gain their first year of industrial work experience in a Kraft Pulp Mill: ü Heavy Duty Mechanic ü Millwright ü Pipefitter ü Electrician ü Instrument Mechanic ü HVAC Mechanic Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, Apprentices work closely with Red Seal tradespeople to gain knowledge in their trade and support maintenance activities throughout the Mill. The successful candidate will work well within a team of trades people, can follow direction, is willing to learn, is open to feedback and has a positive attitude. Your Skills And Abilities ü Safety focused; ü Willingness to learn; ü Ability to follow direction and is open to constructive criticism; ü Excellent verbal and written commination skills; ü Ability to manage time and multi-task to accomplish a variety of assignments with conflicting priorities and deadlines; ü Positive attitude with the ability to collaborate well with others; ü Strong problem solving & analytical skills, and excellent judgment; ü Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands; ü Detail oriented. Your Qualifications ü Skilled Trades BC registered apprentice; ü Foundations completed in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Millwright, Pipefitter, Electrical, Instrument Mechanics or HVAC; ü Have not yet completed their first year of apprenticeship ü Strong mechanical aptitude; ü Previous experience working in a safety sensitive work environment is an asset; ü Strong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software including Microsoft Office Suite is an asset.
