Title: Kinesiologist Department: Vocational Services Reports to: Program Manager Based Edmonton , AB the Kinesiologist is integral in promoting our clients’ healing and improving recovery time. The Kinesiologist plays a pivotal role in the employment program by providing tailored support to participants aimed at enhancing their physical health and well-being, thereby optimizing their readiness for employment. Leveraging their expertise in human movement and exercise science, the Kinesiologist collaborates closely with program staff and participants to develop personalized strategies for improving physical fitness, reducing barriers to employment, and promoting overall health. Duties/Responsibilities: Design, implement and supervise graded exercise, work conditioning and/or work hardening programs Work cooperatively with clients to set and achieve functional goals Conduct group orientation and education lectures and regular one-on-one education to clients Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, available through the Government of Alberta, Federal Government Services, and local agencies and service providers Timely report writing, following current templates, guides, standards, and processes Record keeping and maintaining paper and electronic files Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of university Kinesiology degree program 2+ years of experience considered an asset Registration with the appropriate Provincial governing body for Kinesiologists is required Experience working with individuals with disabilities, injuries, or chronic health conditions, preferably in a vocational rehabilitation or occupational health setting. Understanding of Vocational Rehabilitation an asset Experience with mindfulness and/or yoga an asset An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants Intermediate to advanced computer skills Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills Security background check required May be required to work evenings and/or weekends Inclusion We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
