The Engineer, Mining, is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and optimization of mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable production. This role provides technical expertise in mine planning, production scheduling, ventilation, and operational analysis to support both short-term and long-term mine plans. All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence. Responsibilities: Assist with ventilation planning and monitoring to ensure safe working conditions. Support drill and blast design, ground support planning, and other technical aspects of underground mining operations. Develop and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans in alignment with production targets and operational requirements. Design underground mine layouts, including development headings, stopes, ventilation systems, and infrastructure. Prepare production schedules and coordinate with operations to ensure mining activities align with planned targets. Monitor mining performance and analyze operational data to identify opportunities for improved productivity and efficiency. Conduct site inspections and work closely with operations teams to ensure plans are executed safely and effectively. Prepare technical reports, mine plans, and operational documentation. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and health and safety standards. Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety initiatives. Support cost control initiatives and evaluate operational efficiencies. Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new mining methods, technologies, and operational improvements Requirements Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to obtain registration is considered an asset. Work Experience: Nature & Length 3+ years of experience in underground mining operations or mine planning. Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine, or MineSight is considered an asset. Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills Strong knowledge of mining regulations and safety standards. Strong technical knowledge of underground mining methods and mine planning. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical data. Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
