The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba. The MMF seeks to fill Communications Coordinator position within our Communication’s Department located at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for helping growth of the communications department by assisting the director in coordinating, supervising and implementing the day-to-day practices of the department. As part of the position, the coordinator will assist in developing documents, initiatives, and strategies for MMF communications, website, social media and public relation activities. Job Duties/Competencies: * Support the development and implementation of the MMF Communications strategic plan; * Coordinate internal and external communications, ensuring timely and consistent information flow; * Manage communications materials, including newsletters, websites, social media, and promotional content; * Build and maintain strong relationships with media, staff, community partners, and external organizations; * Monitor current issues and support timely, proactive communications affecting Red River Métis Citizens; * Develop presentations, workshops, training materials, and Speaker’s Bureau resources; * Track communications projects, deadlines, metrics, reports, and supporting documentation; * Promote a positive representation of the MMF while strengthening pride, connection, and understanding of Red River Métis heritage and culture. Skills and Qualifications: * Post secondary education in Marketing, Creative Communications, Media Production, or related field; * Minimum three year of in-field experience is required; * Experience in managing and leading a team is required; * Extensive experience in multiple social media platforms developing social media strategies and best practices; * Experience in creating short and long form video content and video editing; * Strong organization, analytical, time management and planning skills; * Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred; * Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset; * Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and, * Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
