We are looking for a Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our growing business immigration practice. Based in our Vancouver office, you will support our team of immigration lawyers across Canada. About the Employer Mathews Dinsdale Clark LLP is one of Canada’s pre-eminent workplace law firms, with lawyers representing employers in many of the cases that have shaped and redefined the landscape of workplace law in Canada since 1956. The firm has over 90 lawyers in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Halifax and Fredericton. Job Requirements Minimum of 2 years' immigration experience Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong client service skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of organization Experience preparing, organizing and maintaining immigration applications and supporting documentation Familiarity with Canadian business immigration processes and terminology Ability to identify missing information or documentation Strong document preparation, proofreading and formatting skills Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers and other team members while also taking ownership of assigned files Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential client information Ability to learn and adapt to new technology, software and processes Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet strict filing deadlines Job Description Prepare immigration forms Prepare first drafts, compile and submit various immigration applications including, but not limited to, Work, Study and Visitor Record Permits, LMIA, and Permanent Residence (EE, PNP, Spousal, RCIP) Assist with drafting of legal documents and correspondence Ensure that applications are filed in a timely manner Maintain a Bring Forward system to ensure all deadlines are met Organize client files electronically, scan and save confidential client information and documentation Arrange translation of documents as necessary Other office administrative tasks as required Compensation: commensurate with experience This position is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with the potential to work remotely one day per week on a scheduled basis.
