This Development Lead role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, guiding a small team to deliver and support business-critical engineering applications. The successful candidate will partner with stakeholders, shape technical direction, mentor developers, and build scalable .NET-based services aligned with business goals. Client Details Canadian manufacturing client Description Key Responsibilities: Lead and support a small team of developers through technical guidance, mentoring, code reviews, and day-to-day coordination. Partner with stakeholders across engineering and the business to understand needs, clarify requirements, and translate them into practical software solutions. Help define the team's technical roadmap, delivery priorities, and release expectations in alignment with business needs. Design, build, and maintain scalable services and applications using .NET technologies. Help define technical approaches, architectural patterns, and development standards that improve maintainability, performance, and quality. Lead code reviews and promote best practices in testing, design, and development. Work closely with QA and other cross-functional team members to troubleshoot defects, reduce rework, and improve release quality. Help define and evolve our existing set of engineering tools and services. Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and design patterns. Qualifications and Skills: 7+ years in software development using C# and .NET. Experience designing and supporting RESTful APIs and microservice-oriented architectures. Experience leading technical work for a team, including mentoring developers, reviewing code, guiding implementation decisions, planning, and delivery. Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver practical solutions. Strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment, and a focus on quality and maintainability. Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development practices. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Bonus Skills: Experience with Azure and cloud-native development practices. Experience in manufacturing, product configuration, engineering software, or similar technical business domains Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban). Profile The successful candidate will bring at least seven years of software development experience, with strong expertise in C#, .NET, RESTful APIs, and microservice-based architectures. They will have a proven track record of leading technical teams through mentoring, code reviews, implementation guidance, and project delivery while remaining hands-on in development activities. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills will enable them to translate business requirements into practical software solutions and collaborate effectively across engineering, QA, and business teams. Experience with Git-based development practices is essential, while knowledge of Azure, Agile methodologies, manufacturing, engineering software, or HVAC-related domains would be advantageous. They will be a collaborative leader with excellent problem-solving abilities, sound technical judgment, and a strong commitment to software quality, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
