• Currently working on the biovigilance of Canadian crops to determine what the next big pathogenic threat to our crops will be. This research will be used to inform pest management decisions. • Collected air samples and performed DNA extraction and quantification using qubit. • Worked in a Linux environment on the General Purpose Science Cluster. • Used QIIME to perform data processing on DNA metabarcodes from high-throughput sequencing to extract representative sequences and classify taxa. • Created a script to dynamically extract weather data from Environment Canada to create metadata for each sample that was collected. • Performed data analysis using PLS-DA, PCA, and Random Forest to determine the hotspots of pathogenic activity in Canada. • Wrote Python and R scripts to parse through csv data and to prepare data for visualizations in network diagrams.
