Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Machinery installation. Maintenance. Service. Repair. Overhaul. New construction. Machine set-up. Shopwork. Troubleshooting/diagnostic. Tasks: Assemble mechanical equipment. Assemble stationary industrial machinery. Coach and instruct apprentices. Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace defective machinery parts. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Perform routine maintenance work on machinery. Installing machinery and equipment. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Commission systems and components. Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems. Inspect and evaluate material and equipment for compliance to standards. Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures. Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems. Supervisory Experience. Direct the maintenance and repair of an establishment's machinery, equipment and electrical and mechanical systems. Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Electronic General Safety Orientation (EGSO). Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certification. Construction Millwright Trade Certification. Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal Endorsement. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Hoisting and Rigging Training. Forklift Operator Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Office. Field work location experience: Offshore or at sea. Equipment and machinery experience: Automated and robotic system. Conveyor. Electrical and electronic controls. Fans and blowers. Heat exchangers. Hydraulic system. Press brakes and metalworking equipment. Pumps and compressors. Forklift. Area of specialization: Start-up and testing. Shutdown operations. Renovating and restoring. Rigging and handling.
