  1. Software Engineer, Senior

    Telus Agriculture & Consumer Goods

    juin 2022 to févr. 2026

Provided full-stack solutions across two business units (Agriculture and Consumer Goods), focusing on API development, cloud infrastructure automation, and system monitoring within a fast-paced Agile environment. • Developed and maintained scalable C#/.NET APIs and microservices integrated with MSSQL, CockroachDB, RabbitMQ, and Elasticsearch/Logstash. • Executed priority-driven development cycles, managing cross-functional merges to release branches while adhering to deployment stability and code quality standards. • 2-week Agile sprints: engaged in sprint planning, daily standups, weekly backlog refinement, and retrospectives while providing live demos. • Leveraged GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, unit test creation, and code review. This improved task velocity while maintaining strict adherence to coding and security standards. • Engineered asynchronous streaming pipelines to process large datasets read from MSSQL. These were JSON-serialized and written as compressed files in Azure’s blob storage. Resolved critical container out of memory crashes in AKS, improving system stability and reducing memory overhead by 75%. • Built core RESTful APIs for Farms, Fields, Soil, and Weather using C#/.NET and CockroachDB. Enabled hierarchical ownership modeling, geospatial boundaries, soil sampling workflows, and cached historical weather analytics for rapid query performance. • Extended the Admin UI dashboard with role-based user and endpoint management, improving security administration and reducing manual configuration effort. Integrated Material UI components like tables and drawers to enhance the user experience. • Engineered asynchronous services to support the Trade Promotion Management system, leveraging RabbitMQ with shovels to route high-volume transactional workflows, alongside a centralized Audits API leveraging Elasticsearch/Logstash for compliance tracking and observability. Delivered C#/.NET backend and MSSQL/T-SQL database enhancements while enabling Angular UI functionality through optimized APIs and cross-layer debugging. • Implemented Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, containerized workloads via Docker/Azure Kubernetes, and established monitoring/tracing pipelines using Grafana, Airbrake, and Zipkin to improve system reliability, streamline debugging across distributed services and accelerate incident resolution. • Technical Stack: C#/.NET, CockroachDB, MSSQL/T-SQL, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch/Logstash, Angular, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Docker, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Grafana, Airbrake, Zipkin, IdentityServer, Git.

    févr. 2014 to sept. 2021

Re-joined Enlogix as Team Lead to work on Union Gas’ mobile project, this was a valuable learning opportunity. • Mentored team members and served as the primary contact. Provided project and change request assessments, completed estimates of effort and cost. Coordinated and/or performed application changes. Reported to the Director of Web Development. • Developed web applications using Visual Studio 2019, .NET 4.8, C# with MVC, JavaScript, JQuery, DotLiquid templating with Oracle and MariaDB data sources. Use of testing tools such as Fiddler, Postman, Soap UI, JMeter. Source control using Subversion and Git. • Primary support (including on-call) for MariaDB, web (sites and services), and related batch systems (E-billing, email notifications, CIS extracts). • Managed project lifecycles, working with clients to gather requirements, propose options, identify risks, and coordinate efforts with stakeholders. Processes were managed through the use of Jira and associated lifecycle documentation. • Administered MariaDB, performing upgrades, optimization, maintenance, replication, backup, and recovery. • Administered Linux (Ubuntu server & Mint desktop) systems, handling installation and configuration, including Netplan configurations for single or multiple network interfaces. • Produced reference guides and oriented new members through job shadowing. Coached them through the software development lifecycle with a focus on coding standards, expected documentation, and source control procedures. • Project managed and executed the upgrade of all development and client instances to MariaDB 10.3, including migrating from Windows Server 2012 to Ubuntu 18.04. Converted tables from the Aria engine to InnoDB. Managed a 300GB database (1.5 billion rows) with 3 replication instances for rapid failover, backup, and reporting. Tested all applications for database compatibility and resolved any bugs where required. • Improved reporting performance by implementing a Linux in-memory MariaDB server which leveraged a native RAM disk. The server featured over 650GB of RAM allowing a complete replication database to be hosted in memory. The performance of this system reduced weekly and monthly statistical reporting times from several hours to only a few minutes. • Helped design and develop a CMS branded Customer Advantage. This was based on .NET Web API and featured client-managed HTML templates rendered using the DotLiquid engine. The self-service portal has been in production servicing the customer bases of South West Water, EPCOR, Georgia Natural Gas and others. • Worked on a centralized communications application that queues all outbound correspondence requests from various sources. This solution consists of a web application, web services, and windows services. Clients can fully customize notifications using dynamic DotLiquid templating coupled with PDF Clown where required. Communications are rendered based on various factors like customer preference and available template types. e.g. email, letter, SMS and dialer. • Played a key role in implementing and integrating Union Gas’s Myaccount Mobile. Introduced the team to JavaScript promises and authentication tokens. • Assisted the Infrastructure Team with hardware refreshes. All servers were migrated from Windows 2012 to 2016. There was a mixture of physical and virtualized systems. 30 servers were configured and applications were tested for compatibility before being redeployed to UAT and production. • Technical Stack: C#/.NET, MariaDB, Oracle, JavaScript/jQuery, DotLiquid, Git/Subversion, Postman, Fiddler, Linux (Ubuntu).
