POSITION: Electrical & Electronics Technician BUSINESS UNIT: Sterling Road Factory LOCATION: Toronto, Ontario REPORTS TO: Controls and Electrical Engineering Team Leader Position Summary Nestlé Canada Confectionery is seeking an Electrical & Electronics Technician to join the Maintenance team at our Sterling Road Factory in Toronto, Ontario. This role reports to the Controls and Electrical Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for electrical/electronic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. A day in the life of an Electrical & Electronics Technician Follow all job-related guidelines and procedures related to personal safety, food safety, environmental protection, and company security, including lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, hazard analysis, spill response, and recycling requirements. Follow all applicable acts, regulations, and codes related to facilities, equipment, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety. Follow all GMP rules, quality checks, ISO 14001 environmental requirements, OHSAS 18001 safety requirements, and Nestlé Quality Management System requirements. Support the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing operation and respond to changing priorities on short notice. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair high-speed PLC and VFD-controlled processes and packaging equipment. Use and maintain programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, and PCs to monitor and repair machine functions. Maintain electrical plant utilities, including lighting, emergency lighting, and generators. Complete preventive maintenance routines and work orders accurately and on time. Advise on problem resolution and support the procurement of materials and equipment for assigned work. Assist with project work, equipment modifications, and new installations as required. Keep equipment documentation, shop logbooks, and departmental records current and accurate. Maintain the Electrical & Electronics Technician shop in a clean, neat, and orderly condition. Participate in relevant training as required. Perform other duties as assigned. What will make you successful? Certified Licensed Electrician with an Ontario Journeyman’s Electrical License (309A or 422A) is required. Membership or eligibility for the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists is required. Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code is required. Experience in an industrial maintenance environment is preferred. Working knowledge and experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems is preferred. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) knowledge is preferred. Strong working knowledge of electronics is required. Ability to follow and apply company policies and procedures. Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of factory AMM systems and SAP, are preferred. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results through collaboration. Accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness, and initiative in performing work. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team environment. Benefits include: $45.29/hr + shift premiums (night shift $0.90/hour and afternoon shift $0.75/hour), with wage increases on May 1 of each year as per the collective agreement. Overtime is paid at time and a half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays. Annual tool allowance of $600; the company will top up the tax portion. Company-matched pension contributions.
