Term of App't: September 2 - December 21, 2026 (10.5 hours per week) Start date: September 2, 2026 Reporting to: Dean, Academics Salary $50.07 - $56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Employees in this division may elect to enroll in the College Pension Plan with contributions matched by the Employer. Description NLC's University Arts & Sciences Department requires one or more sessional instructors to provide delivery for two intakes of PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychology 1. This general survey course includes topics such as a brief history of psychology, elementary experimental design, the nervous system, stress, sensation and perception, conscious and unconscious mental processes, learning and memory. The University Arts and Sciences programming at Northern Lights College offers a wide variety of courses for students interested in working toward certificate or diploma completion at Northern Lights College or receiving transfer credit at other post-secondary institutions. Course Delivery Is As Indicated Below PSYC 101 In-person FSJ, T/TH 2:45 to 4:10pm (90 hours) PSYC 101 Video conference delivery DC/FSJ, T/TH 8:45 to 10:10am (96 hours + additional hours for travel will be determined). NOTE: for the course being offered by video-conference; during the delivery of the course the incumbent must be located at one of our main campuses (either Dawson Creek or Fort St John, BC), and must be willing to travel to the neighboring campus. Qualifications Required: Master's Degree in Psychology, Demonstrated expertise in Educational Psychology Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills Commitment to student motivation and success; and the Ability to function effectively as a team member through a collaborative approach. Preferred PhD in Psychology, or a closely related field One North American post-secondary degree, preferably the terminal degree. The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education. Demonstrable success as an instructor in a post-secondary environment. Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
