Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-47 Early Childhood Assistant - Vera M. Welsh Elementary School We are seeking a part-time (0.46 FTE) Early Childhood Assistant commencing at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The assignment involves working from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday to Friday and includes assisting in implementing the effective day to day operations of the program, ensuring appropriate supervision, smooth transitions, and consistent routines. Vera M Welsh Elementary School is located in the Town of Lac La Biche with approximately 270 students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who Have Level 1, 2 or 3 Early Child Care Certificate First Aid Certification Knowledge and experience working in an early childhood or school-aged care setting Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills Extensive understanding of child development theories and best practices Working knowledge of Alberta Childcare Licensing Regulations Familiarity with NLPS program philosophies, policies, and operational procedures Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities The Role The Early Childhood Assistant May Include Upholding the program's philosophy, policies, and procedures in all daily practices Maintaining confidentiality in all matters involving children, students, families and staff Supporting the development and implementation of a developmentally appropriate program for young children and students Ensuring all children and students are supervised at all times and accounted for during transitions and activities How To Apply Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section.
