We are seeking an Instrument Technician to join our Instrumentation & Electrical Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. This team is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability and availability. The team provides daily maintenance support to ensure equipment meets the demanding production levels of the plant. You Will Use your Expertise To: Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Responsible Care® and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Standards Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on instrument equipment in a production environment Execute repairs to plant equipment in a timely manner Perform instrument installations in accordance with standard practices and engineering standards Maintain equipment records using computer maintenance management systems Coordinate and direct the activities of others during plant and unit shutdowns Establish new and continually improve existing preventative maintenance programs Work effectively in a multi-discipline team environment Support work assignments in other units as needed What We Are Looking For: A valid Alberta Instrumentation Journeyperson Certificate is required A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required Minimum of 2 years post-Journeyperson experience would be considered an asset Experience working in a petrochemical or water/wastewater maintenance environment would be considered an asset Knowledge and experience with various level, pressure, flow and temperature instrumentation would be considered an asset Knowledge and experience rebuilding Fisher, Cla-Val and other various control valves would be considered an asset Experience working with Triconex and Schneider Modicon PLC systems would be considered an asset Knowledge of gas detection systems would be considered an asset Experience working with water & wastewater analyzers would be considered an asset Experience working with AMS and Valve diagnostic software would be considered an asset Strong commitment to Responsible Care® and HSE Principles through excellence in occupational safety, process safety and environmental stewardship Ability to troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations and implement short and long-term solutions Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined Operations, Engineering, Trades and Planning teams Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently or in a team setting Advanced computer skills, including SAP and MS Office suite You Can Stand Out If: You are passionate about your work and put care and thought into all that you do. Additional Information: Relocation will be considered for this position Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience This role may require up to 10% travel including occasional ad hoc travel between Canada and the U.S. and internationally based on business needs Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license and be able to travel between Canada and the U.S and/or internationally without restriction This posting is for an existing vacancy Why NOVA Chemicals? The Instrument Technician will perform corrective and preventative maintenance on instrument equipment, ensuring equipment reliability and availability. They will also coordinate activities during plant shutdowns and support maintenance programs.

A valid Alberta Instrumentation Journeyperson Certificate and a Class 5 Driver's License are required, along with a minimum of 2 years post-Journeyperson experience. Knowledge of various instrumentation and experience in a petrochemical or water/wastewater environment are considered assets.
