Intake Worker Language Assessment and Referral Center Temporary Full-Time Posting Date: Location: Wage: Hours of Work: Closing Date: August 11, 2026 Surrey, BC $24.36 per hour (subject to funding model) 35 Hours per week (until January 14, 2027) September 07, 2026 Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community. POSITION OVERVIEW Are you passionate about helping immigrants and refugees thrive in their new Canadian communities? We're looking for an Intake Worker to provide essential operational and administrative support to our Language Assessment and Referral Program. As the first point of contact for clients or Settlement Service providers, you will be at the heart of creating a welcoming environment that sets the tone for their journey to success. Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will support the delivery and coordination of language assessment and referral services, ensuring adherence to operating standards and protocols. Key tasks include screening applicants to validate eligibility for services, scheduling assessments, managing client interactions, and maintaining accurate records. The role involves liaising with Language Assessors and Program Managers, supporting clients with special needs, and fostering community engagement by building partnerships with local organizations. The Intake Worker will also assist in reporting, data management, and ensure compliance with privacy policies. *A job description attachment is available to download for more detailed scopes and responsibilities of the position. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education or relevant experience in social services or office administration, with experience working with newcomers, vulnerable populations, and/or volunteers. Administrative experience and knowledge of LINC or Adult ESL programs are an asset, as well as a Level 1 First Aid certificate, Class 5 Driver’s License, and a reliable vehicle. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. Flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and a team-oriented attitude are key attributes. This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
