Role Description The Assistant General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Peace River, AB, supporting the overall leadership and operational management of the organization. This position assists with planning, organizing, and overseeing waste management services and facilities to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising staff, contributing to budget and financial management, monitoring performance metrics, and supporting strategic initiatives and projects. The Assistant General Manager collaborates with municipal members, residents, and business stakeholders, prepares reports and presentations, and helps implement policies that align with the company’s vision, mission, and guiding principles. The role also involves identifying process improvements, supporting public education efforts, and promoting a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Qualifications Leadership and management skills, including experience supervising teams and supporting organizational planning and decision-making. Operational and administrative skills, such as coordinating daily activities, managing budgets, and tracking performance indicators. Communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, municipal partners, and the public. Knowledge of environmental, safety, and regulatory standards related to waste management or similar industrial or municipal services. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, propose improvements, and support strategic initiatives. Post-secondary education in business administration, environmental studies, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and comfort preparing reports and documentation. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory employment practices and creating a safe, respectful work environment.
