ALL DOCUMENT ATTACHMENTS MUST BE IN PDF FORMAT FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR START DATE: As soon as possible Closing date for applications: September 11, 2026 Position Title: Custodial Supervisor Department: Facilities & Operations Reports To: Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations Union Status: Out-of-scope Location: Administration Office Hours: Regular Full-Time Annual Salary Range: $80,495 - $98,792 depending on qualifications Language Requirement: English Job Description Reviewed: August 26, 2026 Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations, the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the operational management of the Divisions custodial services which includes ensuring that the Division’s buildings and facilities are cleaned in accordance with appropriate health and safety standards and ensuring that the building systems are running efficiently. Key Responsibilities Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following Assists both the Director and Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations in the direction, supervision, and coordination of all aspects of work within the Facilities & Operations Department. Directs the work of others within the department. Participates in the annual budget preparation for custodial staffing, supplies and equipment and is responsible for monitoring custodial expenditures. Works with Human Resources in the recruitment process of regular, casual, and substitute custodial staff. Supports and develops employee performance through regular communication, feedback and performance assessments. Ensures compliance with the collective agreement for custodial services and resolves related complaints and concerns. Resolves disputes informally and/or formally as required. Reviews and approves all custodial timesheets and requests for time-off. Establishes the workloads for all facilities and makes recommendations for alterations. Ensures that all custodial staff receive the required training based on their position, and provides ongoing training as needed. Attends the multiple facility sites on an ongoing basis to ensure that safety procedures are being followed. Manages inventory activities for custodial equipment, supplies, and materials. Ensures regulatory compliance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), and Workplace Safety and Health in relation to the cleanliness and safety of the buildings and facilities. Administers the rules and procedures for all facility keys and locks. Responds to emergency calls after hours and on weekends. Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the Department. Skills And Qualifications Skill and Knowledge – Required: Post-secondary Degree in Facility Administration or another related field and two years’ prior related experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. 5th Class Power Engineers Certificate Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Previous experience managing employees in a unionized environment, including experience interpreting and applying collective agreement provisions. Experience in coaching, mentoring, team building, and motivating direct reports. Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service skills with the proven ability to defuse conflict and deal with complaint and concerns effectively and professionally. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with confidential information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle. Skill And Knowledge – Desired Experience providing training in Workplace Safety and Health. Prior experience in an educational environment. Conditions of Employment Police Information Check Child Abuse Registry Check Working Conditions & Physical Demands Work involves some standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to lift objects weighing in excess of 25 kgs. May be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, and hazardous/poisonous chemicals. On occasion may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including weekend or evening work with short or no notice.
