Position: Pharmacy AssistantReports to: Pharmacy ManagerSalary: $20 per hourSchedule: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)Location: 102-245 E Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC V3L 3W4 102-245 E Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC V3L 3W4 Your Day-to-Day Support the Pharmacy Manager in day-to-day administrative and operational activities. Assist in coordinating pharmacy operations to ensure efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and excellent patient service. Receive prescriptions and verify completeness, including patient information, prescriber details, insurance coverage, and special instructions. Accurately enter and maintain patient records using pharmacy software systems. Assist with prescription preparation under pharmacist supervision, including 7-point checks, visual verification, and DIN checks. Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate stock of prescription medications, OTC products, medical supplies, and clinic supplies. Prepare and submit purchase orders for medications, pharmacy products, and operational supplies. Coordinate with wholesalers, suppliers, and vendors regarding orders, deliveries, shortages, backorders, and returns. Receive, unpack, verify, and organize incoming inventory shipments. Conduct regular inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and support inventory audits. Monitor product expiry dates, remove expired products, and maintain proper stock rotation practices. Support pharmacy procurement activities and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dispensary, including cleaning equipment, workstations, and storage areas. Organize and maintain prescriptions, invoices, purchase records, inventory reports, and other pharmacy documentation. Support OTC operations, including product ordering, merchandising, stocking shelves, inventory management, and cashier duties. Assist with general office administration, vendor communications, and operational projects as assigned. Communicate effectively with pharmacists, healthcare providers, suppliers, and team members to support a patient-centered environment. What You Bring to the Table Diploma or Certificate in a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program from a recognized institution (required). 2-3 years of pharmacy experience, preferably in a community or hospital pharmacy setting. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, inventory management, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements. Experience with ordering medications, supplies, and inventory control systems is considered a strong asset. Excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy software is required, along with Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
