Assistant Project Engineer Consultant

Pay Rate: $66.98/hour, depending on experience Contract Length: 1 Year Location: Burnaby, British Columbia Raise is currently hiring an Assistant Project Engineer Consultant on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable. Description The Assistant Project Engineer in this role will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that project designs are safe, effective, and meet the requirements of our client. This role requires demonstrated experience with the electrical design for Overhead - lines and underground cables for operating voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment. Responsibilities Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis', calculations, hazard logs, test plans). Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates. Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and Design Practices. Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews as required by EGBC. Prepare designs for existing and new facilities. Perform various engineering calculations in accordance with regulatory and industry standards such as electrical clearances, electromagnetic and electrostatic field calculations and related induction studies, transient over voltage, switching voltages, AC interference, ampacity, radio interference, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, arcing, soil resistivity, EMTP. Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems on Transmission Overhead - Lines such as line surge arresters, line disconnect switches, lightening protection, circuit to circuit separation. Prepare reports for internal and external clients detailing investigations, evaluation, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations. Provide technical guidance and review of designs prepared by others following established practices. Manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost. Qualifications 4 years of progressive and comprehensive engineering experience, with a primary focus in substation/transmission lines/protection and control is preferred. This role requires demonstrated experience with the electrical design for Overhead - lines and underground cables for operating voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment. Engineering experience through the total project life cycle, from conceptual design through to testing and commissioning is considered an asset. Able to understand the interactions and priorities required to deliver multi-discipline projects is an asset. Excellent communication skills, including writing. Communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing, specifically technical writing. Education and Certifications University graduate in applied science or engineering P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired Additional Information Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment. The Assistant Project Engineer will design safe and effective electrical systems for overhead lines and underground cables ranging from 60kV to 500kV. Responsibilities include preparing technical documentation, performing complex engineering calculations, and providing field construction support.

Candidates must have a university degree in applied science or engineering and a P.Eng registration with EGBC. At least 4 years of progressive engineering experience in substation, transmission lines, or protection and control is preferred.
