Part-Time Position|3.5 hours per day Effective ASAP Job Summary: Reporting to the Director, International Education, the Homestay Facilitator works closely with the Program Coordinator to support the effective delivery of the International Education Program's Homestay Program. The Homestay Facilitator recruits, screens, orients, and supports homestay families while fostering positive relationships among international students, host families, schools, and community partners. What We offer Pension Health & Extended Benefits On-site parking Employee & Family Assistance Program Health and Wellness Discounts Duties and Responsibilities: · Develops and maintains positive relationships with homestay families, international students, school staff, and community partners to support successful homestay experiences. · Monitors student well-being, cultural adjustment, and satisfaction within homestay placements through regular communication, check-ins, and home visits. · Provides guidance and support to students and homestay families regarding cultural adaptation, expectations, and effective communication. · Facilitates the resolution of homestay and student concerns and coordinates appropriate school, community, and medical support when required. · Communicates with international recruitment partners and overseas contacts regarding student well-being, progress, homestay matters, and emerging concerns, as appropriate. Works collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to provide support in the following areas: · Coordinating homestay placements and supporting successful matches between international students and host families. · Providing orientation, training, school-related guidance, and ongoing assistance to international students and homestay families, including attendance at meetings and events. · Maintaining homestay and student records, documentation, databases, and evaluation processes. · Promoting the Homestay Program and responding to inquiries from prospective host families. · Ensuring homestay program practices comply with divisional policies, program standards, and applicable provincial and federal legislation. · Coordinating airport arrival and departure arrangements for international students. · Responding to crises and emergency situations outside regular work hours, including participation in an on-call rotation to support students and homestay families during evenings and weekends. · Coordinating student communications and assisting with documentation related to international student travel. Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: Qualifications · Post-secondary education in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. · Training in mediation and conflict resolution is considered an asset. · Experience working with youth, families, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. · Demonstrated intercultural competence. · Experience as a homestay host is considered an asset. · Ability to communicate in a language other than English is considered an asset. Skills and abilities · Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. · Demonstrated understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work effectively in intercultural settings. · Strong interpersonal and public relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders. · Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines. · Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. · Sound judgment and the ability to address sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. · Ability to maintain discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information. · Ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as required. · Ability to take initiative, work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a collaborative team. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and experience using database systems. Conditions of Employment · Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and a clear Child Abuse Registry Check. External applicants must provide these documents upon hire. · Valid Manitoba Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel as required. · Ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as required. · Participation in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency situations involving international students and homestay families. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 1. Environmental Factors • Working indoors, office environment, use of computer, phone, printer, fax • Exposure to typical office lighting 2. Physical Demands • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time • Frequent use of a computer, including mouse and keyboard functions • Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. may be required 3. Psychosocial Demands • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to urgent situations. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. • High level of responsibility, accountability, and confidentiality.
