Guest Lecturer / Public Speaker

Casual Independent Contractor | $100 per presentation hour Parkland Retirement Residence is seeking engaging, knowledgeable public speakers and lecturers to deliver educational and interactive presentations for older adults. Additional contract opportunities may also become available at other retirement residences. Topics of Interest We welcome speakers from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds, including: History, politics and current affairs Science, technology and artificial intelligence Health, wellness and healthy aging Psychology, philosophy and sociology Travel, culture and world geography Music, art, literature and film Finance, law and fraud prevention Nature, wildlife and the environment Other specialized or engaging educational subjects Responsibilities Deliver engaging, accessible presentations for a senior audience Prepare accurate, well-organized and visually appealing material Encourage questions, discussion and audience participation Adapt the presentation’s pace and complexity to residents’ interests and abilities Coordinate presentation requirements with the Active Living Department Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge and recognized credentials in your area of expertise Previous experience delivering lectures, workshops or public presentations Strong public-speaking and audience-engagement skills Professional, dependable and comfortable working with older adults Ability to provide your own presentation materials Experience working with seniors, community groups or educational organizations is considered an asset Contract Details Compensation: $100 per one-hour presentation Schedule: Casual and part-time, based on programming needs and availability Employment type: Independent contractor Presentations will initially take place at Parkland Retirement Residence Successful speakers may be offered recurring engagements and contracts at additional retirement residences How to Apply Please submit: A brief introduction Your résumé or professional biography Your credentials and area of expertise A list of proposed presentation topics with short descriptions Details of your previous public-speaking or teaching experience A video sample, website or professional profile, if available Your general availability We are looking for speakers who can transform their expertise into memorable, enjoyable and thought-provoking learning experiences for our residents.

Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge and recognized credentials in their area of expertise along with previous public speaking experience. Ability to provide own presentation materials and comfort working with seniors is required.
