About The Role The Learning Technology Specialist supports the School of Medicine’s digital learning environment by developing, implementing, and optimizing educational technologies across undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education programs. Working closely with faculty, instructional teams, IT partners, and external consultants, the role combines technical expertise, instructional design, and project coordination to enhance online and technology-enabled learning. It directly supports the School’s goal of delivering high-quality, learner-centered medical education through effective course design, faculty support, and continuous improvement of learning tools. Key initiatives include LMS enhancements, technology integrations, piloting new digital tools, improving student engagement, and leading course development and implementation projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and tech-savvy professional with strong expertise in learning management systems, instructional technologies, and online course delivery. They possess excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment. Success in this role requires strong technical troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting faculty and learners. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning while effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Experience with instructional design, digital learning tools, and training or mentoring users is essential. Qualifications Master’s degree in education, Business, or a related discipline and three years of related experience in areas such as instructional design and support on specialized Learning Management Systems (LMS), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Strong knowledge of learning management systems (LMS), instructional design principles, and educational technologies, including Canvas and Moodle-based platforms. Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to online learning technologies. Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners. Ability to evaluate emerging educational technologies and provide recommendations that enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
