The Power Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and safe consistent operation of the Ammonia/Glycol refrigeration plant and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and monitoring of all life safety, HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems within the Retail Support Centre while actively contributing to a positive, productive and safe working environment. Schedule: This position works on a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, alternating between: 4 days on / 3 days off, followed by 3 days on / 4 days off Shifts run 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. and 7:00 pm to 7:00 am Here’s where you’ll have an impact: Responsible for the maintenance and safe, consistent operation of the Ammonia/ Glycol Refrigeration Plant and all related systems Monitor, maintain, trouble shoot and repair life safety systems, including sprinkler systems and piping, sprinkler risers, valve groups, fire pump, fire hoses, extinguishers, fire alarm panel and fire dialer Monitor, maintain, trouble shoot and repair all HVAC and human comfort systems, including RTU’s, unit heaters, lighting, etc Monitor, maintain, trouble shoot and repair all building related mechanical equipment, including, dock plates, overhead doors, rollup doors, pumps, back- up generator, motors, fans, plumbing and electrical systems Monitor, maintain, trouble shoot and repair banana / fruit ripening rooms, and related equipment Maintenance of all tools, parts and equipment used within the RSC, ensuring adequate stock on hand for critical equipment failures Complete daily logs and preventative maintenance schedules as required. Maintain a safe, clean, professional work environment always, utilizing Sobeys 5S Standards Adhere to all company policies and procedures Other duties as assigned #RSCWEST What you bring to the table: Knowledge and direct working experience in various building systems; boilers, compressors, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems Ability to read blueprints, schematics, instructions, control sequences with a clear understanding of local codes, regulations and bylaws Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite; Word Excel, including automated controlled refrigerated systems Knowledge and direct working experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of banana/fruit ripening rooms Other related mechanical trades licensing or skills: welding, electrician, millwright, plumber, refrigeration mechanic an asset Valid minimum 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate and License valid in Province of employment A minimum of 1-2 years Power Engineering experience, with an emphasis on large ammonia / glycol refrigeration systems Learn More About Our Story And Culture Who We Are | Why Work With Us Total Rewards We offer a Total Rewards package designed to support teammates at work and in life.
