Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Wet/damp. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Industrial. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Construction site. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Instruct apprentices. Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Schedule personnel, tools and equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Aerial lift and aerial work platform Certification. Plumber Trade Certification. Working at heights training. First Aid Certificate. Confined Space Entry Training. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Apprenticeship training: Level two apprenticeship training. Level three apprenticeship training. Level four apprenticeship training. Security and safety: Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
