Production Supervisor- Evening Shift • Training period (~2 months): 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM • Permanent shift: 3:00 PM – 11:45 PM (Evening shift) Job Description The Production Supervisor is responsible for delivering production plans according to quality requirements, timelines, and budgets within their assigned departments. They provide the necessary support to the team (team leads) and mobilize resources to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement within their area. They ensure compliance with health and safety (H&S) policies, the top priority, and support the optimal development of their team based on operational needs. They promote the development and adherence to manufacturing methods and standards. Daily Execution Control: • Review, update, and analyze daily key production performance indicators • Review results with team leads during Gemba Walks • Analyze KPI trends to guide problem-solving and improvement activities (primarily on a weekly basis) • Monitor work progress against weekly and monthly production estimates • Take proactive action to avoid production delays and shop floor backlog • Adjust and approve timesheets, delays, absences, and overtime during the week and weekends as needed Planning: • Plan workforce needs on a daily basis (vacations, unexpected absences, overtime, coordination with other departments, etc.) • Ensure daily/weekly production planning is realistic, resolve related issues, and contribute to longer-term planning • Participate in various operational meetings (H&S, production meetings, problem-solving, Gemba, etc.) • Ensure proper production start-up and information transfer between shifts (day/evening/night) • Ensure optimal allocation of resources • Manage employees in cases of temporary assignments (CNESST) • Manage and approve vacation requests in collaboration with HR and the Planner People Management and Administration: • Monitor absenteeism (ensure absences are recorded in the system, including sick leave) and ensure punctuality • Track overtime, ensuring it is pre-approved based on operational needs • Approve hours in the system for payroll processing • Participate in onboarding and training of new employees according to the integration plan • Apply disciplinary measures and meet with employees while respecting collective agreement rules • Lead or participate in workplace accident investigations in collaboration with HR and the H&S Coordinator Requirements and Qualifications: • College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, operations management, project management, or related fields • 3 to 5 years of experience supervising personnel in a unionized environment • Experience in the steel industry (major asset) • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, initiative, sense of responsibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and precision • Strong leadership skills, positive attitude, good listening skills, and sound judgment • Ability to work under pressure and high stress tolerance • Lean knowledge (asset) • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office • Knowledge of SAP and Dayforce (asset) • Good understanding of health and safety laws and regulations • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) to ensure effective communication with unilingual employees and other North American plants As a Stella-Jones employee, you will enjoy access to excellent benefits and incentives, including: Extended health and dental coverage Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) Short-Term and Long-Term disability coverage Competitive compensation Annual Bonus Program Retirement program (RRSP) with generous Company match (150% of employee's 4% contribution) Company Share Purchase Program with 25% Company contribution match Career advancement opportunities Stella-Jones is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
