Résumé du poste
Barrie, ON | On-Site Job ID 10637 Company Description Some electricians spend most of their careers maintaining equipment someone else built. This opportunity is quite different. Our client builds sophisticated automated machinery, and the electrical team is involved while that equipment is still becoming a machine. You’ll work alongside people in mechanical, electrical, controls and engineering disciplines, taking drawings and components and turning them into equipment that eventually has to run reliably on a customer’s production floor. That makes for an interesting workplace if you’re the type of electrician who likes machinery and wants to understand how everything works together. One project may have you dealing with motors and controls. Another may involve robotics, welding equipment, pneumatics or hydraulics. There are drawings to interpret, problems to solve, equipment to test and, sometimes, a customer site at the other end of the project where the machine gets installed and started up. It’s hands-on electrical work, but with considerably more variety than you’ll find in many electrician roles. Compensation The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $97,000*, with the final offer reflecting the experience and skills you bring. The overall package also includes Performance-based bonus opportunities, tied to both company results and the achievement of annual project goals established and reviewed with your supervisor. Comprehensive benefits, including RRSP matching and a healthcare spending account. The chance to work in a collaborative, technology-driven environment where practical ideas, creative problem-solving and thoughtful, data-informed decision-making are valued. The stated compensation range reflects the full scope of the role as currently structured and is provided in accordance with pay transparency requirements. Offers are determined based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates who fully meet all requirements and qualifications outlined in this posting and the official job description. The Opportunity If you enjoy looking at an electrical drawing and then building what is on the page, this position should be worth a closer look. You’ll help wire automated assembly and manufacturing equipment from the build stage through testing and, when required, installation or startup at the customer’s facility. There is room here for more than one experience level. Someone earlier in their career can continue developing their machine-wiring abilities while taking on progressively more difficult assignments. An experienced electrician can step into troubleshooting, project ownership and coordination. A senior electrician can become one of the people others turn to, leading portions of the electrical build and helping apprentices and less experienced electricians develop their skills. You can grow with the work rather than waiting for someone to leave before the job becomes more interesting. Position Description Reading electrical prints and schematics and translating them into actual machine wiring. Wiring motors, controls, robotics, PLC-related equipment, weld systems and other electrical components. Working around hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of a larger automated machine. Troubleshooting something that isn’t behaving the way the drawing says it should. Working with engineering when a drawing needs clarification or an improvement becomes obvious on the shop floor. Helping identify quality issues before equipment leaves the facility. Keeping electrical safety front and centre throughout the build. Assisting with maintenance or equipment-related work when needed. Helping improve wiring methods so future builds can be completed more efficiently. Supporting installation, startup or service work at a customer’s facility. At a senior level, organizing electrical work, keeping an eye on project timing and helping guide other electricians. There will be some lifting involved, and project schedules can occasionally require overtime, shift flexibility or travel. Experience Machine-wiring experience is what will matter most here. We would particularly like to hear from people who have worked with automated machinery, custom equipment, industrial assembly systems or machine-building environments. The employer can consider candidates across several levels Developing / Junior level You may have roughly 1 to 3+ years of relevant electrical or machine-wiring experience and want to continue building your capabilities. Intermediate level You are likely in the 3 to 5+ year range, comfortable wiring machinery independently and increasingly confident troubleshooting problems and helping others. Senior level You bring 5+ years of strong machine-wiring experience and can take ownership of larger pieces of a project, troubleshoot difficult problems, coordinate work and mentor other electricians. Experience with robotics, PLC-controlled machinery, motors, weld equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics is particularly useful. Customer-site installation, commissioning or service experience would also transfer well. Qualifications You’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent along with an appropriate electrician Certificate of Qualification. A 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician credential is particularly applicable to this opportunity, while an Industrial Electrician qualification may be considered for some experience levels. You should also be comfortable Reading electrical drawings and schematics. Applying electrical code and safe-work requirements in a machine-building environment. Troubleshooting electrical problems without needing every answer handed to you. Asking for another set of eyes when a problem genuinely calls for it. Working with people from different technical disciplines. Keeping your work organized when several things are happening at once. Adapting when a project changes direction or a deadline gets tight. Travelling to customer locations when necessary. Working overtime or alternate shifts when a project requires it. Forklift and fall-protection training would be helpful but are not essential. AutoCAD exposure is also an asset, as is familiarity with Microsoft Office. Education High school diploma or equivalent. Valid electrician Certificate of Qualification. 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician certification is strongly preferred. An Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification may also be considered, depending on the candidate’s experience and the level of the position.
