Situated in the center of the vibrant Halifax downtown, The Barrington Hotel is centrally located and just two blocks from the waterfront and Queen’s Marque district. In each of our hotel departments our culture is to provide a common goal – to welcome every guest and provide exceptional hospitality during their stay. Reporting to the Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales (DOS) the Sales Manager will work closely with the management team to achieve targets and goals set by the General Manager and executive leadership. What you will be doing as a Sales Manager • Develop new business, lateral development of existing accounts, and contact new customers in the market • Participate in sales meetings to acquire new business and/or close on business • Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer base and service expectations- serving the customer by understanding their business and attention to detail as it relates to the sector of business • Prepare reports for the Director of Sales • Working with Discover Halifax on proposals, requests for information and target accounts • Manage assigned sales goals and targets as assigned by the DOS • Hunter mentality to always be mining for business. Sell, sell, sell! • Coordinate and contract event space and guest rooms, meeting details, and meet budgeted goals and objectives • Coordinate with the F&B Manager on meeting space set up and F&B facilitation for all meeting groups • Other duties & responsibilities from time to time as assigned by the GM/AGM/DOS The person we are looking for has: • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Sales, Hospitality, Tourism, Business or a relevant field and or equivalent experience • Previous experience in Hotel Sales and knowledge of the local market is an asset • Exceptional communication and CRM skills – a must have • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and remain organized • Exceptional communication and customer service skills • Confidential • Hunter mentality – mining for business – motivated high-performing team player with a collaborative mindset.
