About Café Lunette Café by day, bistro by night, we proudly play host to morning coffee and viennoiserie, breezy business lunches, weeknight rendezvous, lazy Sunday brunches and everything in between. Our menus feature a greatest hits list of timeless French classics — from traditional onion soup and steak tartare, to comforting boeuf Bourguignon and seafood bouillabaisse. On weekends, we invite our guests to rise and shine for a rich variety of pastries, crêpes, galettes and breakfast sandwiches. Job Description Under the direction of the General Manager, Café Lunette is seeking a Host/Hostess and Server Assistant responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression for all guests, supporting the service team and ensuring a seamless flow of service and overall cleanliness of the restaurant. What you will be doing as a Host/Hostess: Effectively manage reservations and walk-ins to maximize seating capacity; Communicating with servers, bartenders and managers to maintain proper guest flow throughout the restaurant; Escorting guests to their table, engage them in conversation and seat them accordingly; Developing a briefing sheet before each shift that will inform co-workers of shows/concerts, special events and nbs as well as special requests for birthdays, anniversaries etc; Possessing a working knowledge of the restaurant trade area (location, surroundings, nearby attractions, directions, etc.).; Ensuring that the front entrance, host stand and surrounding areas are fully stocked and free from clutter and debris; Knowing all table numbers and maintain awareness of which servers are in each section; Maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas by completing checks regularly throughout shift; Following all food safety standards and systems; Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time. What you will be doing as a Server Assistant: Assisting with food running, ensuring that plates arrive to the proper guest (no auctioning off); Communicating with servers and hosts to maximize seating; Practicing a high level of floor awareness and clearing/cleaning as required; Following all food safety standards and systems; Emptying garbage, changing linen bags, and disposing of garbage and recycling; Communicating to all servers any comments or information providing by guests to ensuring a positive, memorable experience; Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time. The person we are looking for has: A valid Serve Right Certification; Previous experience in a similar restaurant is considered an asset; Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment; Organizational skills; Ability to take direction and prioritize a variety of tasks at once; Strong oral communication skills; High level of product knowledge.
