Door Attendant at The Lower Deck About Lower Deck A Halifax institution since 1974, the original Lower Deck Pub opened its doors on the Halifax waterfront in 1974, combining our proud Nova Scotian hospitality with great food, great beer and local entertainment. It is the city’s original home of East Coast music, cold pints, and good times on the waterfront. With live music, hearty pub fare, and a come-as-you-are spirit, it remains a cornerstone of local culture and hospitality for visitors and regulars alike. Job Description Under the direction of the General Manager, we are looking for a friendly, professional, and safety-conscious Door Attendant at Lower Deck, who will be the first point of contact for our guests, creating a welcoming environment while maintaining safety standards. What you will be doing as a Door Attendant: Monitoring and controlling access to the establishment; Checking ids and ensuring that all patrons meet age requirements; Maintaining order and enforcing rules and regulations; Handling difficult situations with professionalism and tact; Escorting unruly guests out of the establishment; Collaborating with other staff members to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all; Helping service staff close building including but not limited to – ensuring all guests have departed, tidying up, taking out garbage and recycling; Such other similar or related duties as may be required from time to time. The person we are looking for has: Similar experience in an environment is considered an asset; Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment; Organizational skills; Strong oral communication skills; Ability to work evenings, weekends, and late nights.
