Company Overview The Butcher Shoppe is a custom packaged meats company located in the Toronto area. Our meats are carefully selected for quality to achieve the high standards of our customers. Daily, over 100,000 lbs of meat are processed and fulfilled by a team of butchers, who convert fresh meat to custom specifications. We do more than 1000 deliveries, 6-days week. For the past 40 years, the company has grown steadily to meet the demands of the foodservice industry. We currently employ over 400 employees at the Etobicoke location. Job Summary The Butcher Shoppe’s Butchers will work in a growing food industry and acquire knowledge of custom meat preparation. Qualifying candidates will work as a meat Butcher and will deliver high quality, custom-cut meats to meet the customer’s needs and order requirements. Job Qualifications and Requirements * Cuts, trims and prepares standard cuts of various meat products and specialty items for the retail counter and wholesale orders * Has experience working with band saw and manual cutting utensils * Has experience cleaning meat for processing or cutting * Comfortable working with raw meat; beef and other meat protein * Preparation, weighing, packaging, labelling, & pricing in the processing areas * Good overall personal hygiene and cleanliness practices * Strict following of required safety protocols related to Ontario Health & Safety standards including sanitation and food safety practices * Physical strength ability to lift meat and meat products (50 lbs min.) * Excellent organization skills * Motivation for continuous improvement and learning * Mechanical, technical and general problem-solving skills * Minimum of 12 months experience utilizing a knife or cutting equipment in a meat retail or wholesale environment Monday to Friday: 5 am to 4 pm Saturday: 5 am to 8 am
